MAINTENANCE PERSON - PART TIME
Job Title: Maintenance Person (Part-Time)
Location: The Coral Centre, Bridge Works, Fontley Road, Titchfield. PO15 6QZ
Hours: 8 hours/week (schedule flexible - eg, 1-2 shifts, morning / afternoons as needed)
Reports to: Store Manager
About the Role:
We're looking for a reliable, hands-on maintenance person to help keep our marine aquarium store running smoothly. This role blends general facility upkeep with aquarium-specific maintenance, so some familiarity with saltwater systems or a willingness to learn is important. Attention to detail is key and have the ability to problem solve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine water changes and testing on display and sale tanks
- Clean glass, filters, skimmers, and equipment on a regular schedule
- Monitor and maintain water parameters (salinity, temperature, pH, etc.) alongside staff
- Carry out general store maintenance: plumbing checks, minor repairs, lighting, pumps
- Troubleshoot and report equipment issues (pumps, heaters, filtration, RO/DI systems)
- Keep stockroom and equipment areas clean, organised, and safe
- Dispose of waste water and materials in line with store procedures
- Assist with light building upkeep (floors, fixtures, minor repairs) as needed
Requirements:
- Some experience in aquarium maintenance, general handyman work, or a related trade
- Basic understanding of saltwater/marine systems preferred (or strong willingness to learn)
- Comfortable with hands-on physical work, including lifting and standing for periods
- Reliable and punctual, able to work independently
- Good attention to detail — small errors in water chemistry matter
- Basic tool literacy (plumbing, electrical safety awareness a plus)
Nice to Have:
- Personal experience keeping a reef or marine aquarium
- Familiarity with common livestock and reading signs of stress/illness in fish/inverts

SALES ASSISTANT - PART TIME
Job Title: Sales Assistant (Part-Time)
Location: The Coral Centre, Bridge Works, Fontley Road, Titchfield. PO15 6QZ
Hours: 3 - 4 days a week (days flexible, must be able to work weekends)
Reports to: Store Manager
About the RoleWe're looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Sales Assistant to join our marine aquarium store. You'll help customers build and maintain thriving saltwater aquariums, from first-time hobbyists setting up a nano reef to experienced aquarists sourcing rare fish and coral. This role blends customer service, product knowledge, and genuine care for the animals in our care.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers, offering expert advice on marine fish, invertebrates, coral, live rock, and aquarium equipment
- Help customers select appropriate livestock based on tank size, water parameters, and experience level
- Test water samples and advise customers on water chemistry, filtration, and disease prevention
- Assist with the acclimation, quarantine, and care of incoming livestock
- Maintain in-store display tanks — feeding, water changes, and monitoring fish/coral health
- Process sales transactions, special orders, and livestock holds
- Keep the sales floor stocked, clean, and visually appealing (tanks, dry goods, equipment displays)
- Stay current on new products, livestock availability, and marine care best practices
- Build long-term relationships with regular customers and hobbyists
- Support online orders, local pickups, or delivery coordination if applicable
- Assist with receiving livestock and equipment shipments
- Support website updates for new products / stock control
Requirements
- Genuine interest in and knowledge of marine/saltwater aquariums (reef keeping experience a strong plus)
- Prior experience in retail, customer service, or pet/aquatics industry preferred
- Basic understanding of water chemistry (salinity, pH, nitrogen cycle, etc.)
- Comfortable handling livestock (fish, coral, invertebrates) safely and confidently
- Strong communication skills and a customer-first attitude
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25kg (buckets, equipment, livestock bags)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work weekends/holidays as needed
- Attention to detail and ability to think on your feet
Nice to Have
- Personal experience keeping a reef tank or marine aquarium
- Knowledge of specific livestock (SPS/LPS coral, clownfish breeding, etc.)
- Experience with POS systems and inventory management
- Certifications or coursework in marine biology/aquaculture (not required, just a bonus)
