Frogspawn Coral (Euphyllia divisa) is a popular choice among reef aquarium enthusiasts for its vibrant, flowing tentacles and hardy nature. It’s ideal for intermediate aquarists looking to add a touch of elegance to their reef environment.

Habitat & Placement

Lighting & Flow

• Lighting: Frogspawn prefers moderate lighting (PAR levels of 75-150). Too much light can cause bleaching, while insufficient light can hinder growth. LED reef lights with customizable intensity work well.
• Water Flow: Moderate, indirect flow is best to prevent damage to the delicate tentacles while ensuring nutrient delivery. Avoid direct, high-intensity flow, as it can cause retraction or tissue damage.

Feeding

While Frogspawn corals obtain most of their energy from photosynthetic zooxanthellae, occasional supplemental feeding boosts their growth and vibrancy. Feed small meaty foods like brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, or coral pellets 1-2 times a week. Use a pipette or turkey baster for targeted feeding.

Compatibility

Frogspawn corals are semi-aggressive and should not be placed too close to other corals to avoid stinging conflicts. They pair well with other Euphyllia species (e.g., Hammer or Torch corals) in a well-planned aquascape. Keep distance from sensitive soft corals and SPS corals.
