Size: approx 1" (25mm)
Fixing: Rock
Temperment: Peaceful

THIS XENIA DOESN'T PULSE

Xenia Coral Care Guide

Scientific Name: Xenia sp.
Common Name: Xenia Coral, Pulsing Xenia

Care Level: Easy

Xenia Corals are great for beginners and experienced reef keepers alike. They grow quickly and add beautiful movement to any reef tank with their pulsing polyps.

Lighting: Moderate to High

Xenia Corals thrive under moderate to high lighting. LED, T5, or metal halide lighting works well. Ensure they receive sufficient PAR levels (100-150) for optimal growth.

Water Flow: Low to Moderate

They prefer gentle to moderate water flow to encourage their signature pulsing motion without being overpowered.

Placement: Mid to High in the Tank

Place Xenia Coral on live rock or an isolated rock island to prevent uncontrolled spreading, as they can grow rapidly.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 75-80°F (24-27°C)
  • Salinity: 1.024-1.026 SG
  • pH: 8.1-8.4
  • Alkalinity: 8-12 dKH
  • Nitrates: <10 ppm
  • Phosphates: <0.05 ppm

Feeding & Nutrition:

Xenia Corals are photosynthetic and derive most of their energy from light. They may also absorb dissolved organic nutrients from the water. No direct feeding is required.

Compatibility:

Xenia Corals are peaceful but can spread aggressively. Keep them away from slower-growing corals that may be overgrown.

Propagation & Growth:

Xenia Corals grow rapidly and can be easily fragged by cutting small sections and attaching them to new surfaces with glue or a frag plug.

Special Considerations:

  • Pulsing Xenia can sometimes stop pulsing due to stress, water quality changes, or low oxygen levels.
  • Keep an eye on growth to prevent them from overtaking other corals.
  • They may be sensitive to iodine and phosphate fluctuations.

Bring movement and life to your reef aquarium with Xenia Coral – a fascinating and easy-to-care-for coral choice!
